If you've ever tried to make a website or other visual project, then you know how hard it is to find good quality stock photos and video. In this post, I'll share with you the best sites for finding free stock images and video clips. We're going to cover 10 different websites from professional photographers and major brands that offer high-quality content in one place absolutely freee....

Unsplash

One of my very favorite is Unsplash!! Splash is a website with a large collection of free high-resolution photos and videos. If you have never tried it before – here is your chance to try it out. Get high quality photos and videos for your projects.

The site has a large collection of photos in different categories, including landscapes, cityscapes, architecture and many many more. They also have videos that range from nature scenes to human portraits.

Unsplash offers a lot more than just images; they have an active community of photographers and videographers who share their work on the platform. One can also be part of the site as a contributor of high quality photos and videos.

The most interesting thing about Unsplash is that the content can be used for commercial purposes without any attribution requirement or cost payment (but  I think you should still credit them if you want). Let me just give a shout out to all  contributors who are making these content freely available for others to use..

Coverr.co

My next website on the list is Coverr - a stock photo website that offers free stock photos and videos. I have used this website multiple times already especially their videos are top-notch. For some reason I find high quality videos of scenes I am looking for always on point.  Coverr offers a wide range of free stock photos and videos, offering both high-resolution images, as well as HD videos.

The website also has different categories for its images to make it easier for you to find the right image for your needs. Some examples include:

  • Free Stock Photos & Videos
  • Animals & Wildlife
  • Nature & Scenery

StockSnap.io

Another amazing one is StockSnap.io a free stock image website, one thing I love about this website is that:

  • They offer high-quality photos and videos,
  • No watermarks
  • And most of all NO registration required
  • FREE for use (copyright free)

You can literally use these photos, edit, change, alter modify whatever you name it for free, yes you can use even for commercial purposes, however you cannot claim for example that the person in the image said this or that… or this person in this image lost weight of this much ….because that’s not true…

You can download the images directly to your computer or use them on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, in your videos, either way you like.

StockSnap offers an impressive collection of free images: more than 2 million photos and videos are available for free download at any time, but they have been tagged by category into over 90 different collections. If you want to narrow down your search results even further, StockSnap lets you filter by color, size (square), orientation (landscape or portrait) and format (jpg/jpeg), quite cool.

The site also lets users choose from more than 60 different filters to add some extra flair to their pictures -- think black & white or vintage films look -- as well as choose backgrounds for their photos using one of 35 options available for each image on the site's homepage.

NegativeSpace.co

NegativeSpace.co is a great source for high-resolution photos you can use for commercial, personal, and non-profit work.

Their license is more or less like that of Stocksnap -- The site says that the images are free for “commercial use” which means that if your business sells products or services and you want to use photos from NegativeSpace.co in your marketing materials then you don't have to pay anything to do so. You just have to follow their Terms of Use. So if you're looking for free stock photos or videos then give NegativeSpace.co a try!

Burst by Shopify

Burst is a free stock photo website created by Shopify. You can download the photos in high resolution and in a variety of sizes, which makes it easy to find one that fits your design needs.

You can use these photos for personal or commercial use, but they're only available on Burst unless you have an account with Shopify.

ISO Republic

ISO Republic is another free stock photo website that offers a wide range of images in a variety of categories. With more than 100,000 photos to choose from, ISO Republic has an abundance of pictures to choose from. It also has thousands of videos and animations to choose from so you can find the perfect one for your project.

ISO Republic offers a wide range of images in a variety of categories. And it’s not just images. It has a large collection of free stock photos and videos that cover everything from food to business. Like the other two websites we discussed above, they also have CC0 License which means you can do anything with photos, and videos from this website for free, without attribution however it's recommended.

Pexels

Okay this is one that I could skip out, because it is so commonly known and you probably know of it already too, but…. Let’s just go ahead and have it in our list …of course Pexels is a great photo website for free stock images, with thousands of available. If you're looking for a specific image, the search function on Pexels is fantastic — you can filter by color and size, as well as type of image or subject matter. When you find an image that you like on Pexels, it's easy to download and use it in any way that works best for your website. You'll be able to keep track of what images you've used so far by seeing how many downloads are left in each category (e.g., "Single Person").

Pixabay

Another most known website is, ---this is why I am mentioning these two for last.. they are well known and I bet you already know them too, so… Pixabay is a great place for free stock photos and videos. It's loaded with over 1 million free stock images, vectors, and videos that you can use in your content creation. The site has an impressive collection of photographs under different categories like nature, people, technology etc., which makes it easy for you to find the perfect image for your project quickly. The search feature on Pixabay is also very good—it lets you filter out the results based on their license type (e.g., commercial or editorial), source (e.g., Flickr), orientation (landscape or portrait) and dimension (high-res vs low-res). This makes the site even more useful than ever before!

Gratisography by Ryan McGuire

This is one of those sites that you'd never think to visit, but once you do and see the amazing photos on offer, it'll become one of your favorites. The images are all high quality and unique, with a great range of styles in both photos and videos. And best of all? They're free for commercial use! No attribution required! Even though I still do encourage that you do. According to the site, All the photos are taken by Ryan McGuire himself, which means if you want a more personal feel to your designs, this may be the ideal choice for you. It also means that there's no risk of getting sued because he won't sue back (and hopefully doesn't mind if we mention him). 😊

There are plenty of great free ways to get stock images or video and in this list were just some of the many websites you can use to find the perfect image for your projects.

We hope you've enjoyed our list of the best free stock photo and video websites. We know there are a lot of options out there when it comes to finding great images, so we wanted to make sure this guide was thorough enough that everyone could find exactly what they're looking for. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day. Cheers!
